I AM not ashamed to admit that I have been crying tears of joy.
Our amazing Sarawakian diving queen has again outshone all expectations and won herself a silver medal at the Rio Olympics.
Yes this Bidayuh village girl from Kampung Jugan has continued to amaze at the world’s most prestigous sporting platform.
Pandelela Rinong, Sarawak is so proud of you.
In case you didn’t know, together with Cheong Jun Hoong, Pandelela won the women’s synchronised 10m platform silver medal with 344.34 points.
They were just behind China’s Chen Ruolin-Liu Huixia who scored 354.55 and clearly edged out Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito-Roseline Filion who managed 336.18 points for the bronze.
This is Malaysia’s first silver from an event other than badminton.
Our girl Pandelela won the first Olympic bronze and non-badminton medal for the country in the 10m diving event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
She was also the first woman to do so.
Sarawak’s pride and joy. You’ve done it again!
