DID you know that the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) will also give new opportunities to women entrepreneurs?
I didn’t really think about the impact of SCORE on the fairer sex, but it’s good that the Sarawak Women’s Bureau of Welfare, government and Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) are going to hold the Sarawak Women Entrepreneurs Conference 2012.
It aims to empower women and build their capacity in entrepreneurship, especially in exploring new opportunities in SCORE.
So what are some of the areas that women entrepreneurs can explore under SCORE?
Well the possibilities are endless but some of the opportunities could be modern agriculture, tourism, transportation and the service sector.
In case you didn’t know, the five New Growth Nodes are Tanjung Manis, Mukah, Samalaju, Baram and Tunoh.
There will also be Secondary Growth Centres such as Semop, Balingian, Selangau, Samarakan, Bakun and Ng. Merit.
These areas are set to witness incredible growth and transformation.
There will be an influx of workers in these areas and they will require good food, places to shop, and transportation.
It is vital to ensure that women entrepreneurs are aware of the new opportunities in these areas because of SCORE so that they can also benefit from the developments to come.
Some 200 current and potential women entrepreneurs from programmes organised by different sectors and agencies, such as the Department of Agriculture, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, Dewanita, Entrepreneur Development Unit, Chief Minister’s Department, Malaysian Fisheries Development Board, Saranita, Dayak Bidayuh National Association and Sarakup Indu will attend the conference.
Hopefully our Sarawakian sisters will participate actively in the entrepreneurial opportunities available in SCORE.
Real transformation for a secure future for Sarawakians and not just passing change.
